Restoration
Sidetank
A side view of one of the tank before work started. The patches that had been welded on to the bottom half of the tanks in BR day can clearly be seen. |
Part of the side removed, rust holes can be seen in the floor, as well as an access hole that had previously been cut. The strengthening plates and baffles that give the tanks strength can also be seen. |
Further work dismantling the old tank to get the parts we want to keep. |
The new tank floor takes shape, upside-down, next to the frames. A copy of the original drawing sits on the frames, which we are following, as well as from the old tank. |
The side tank is taking shape, although there are no baffles and no back fitted yet. |
