Lifting Shop
The lifting shop is part of the
site that was built during the 1930s, and was used for minor repairs
to engines at Didcot. The building contains a 50T hoist, this
is used to lift boilers, frames and any other large item, there
is also a forge, a selection of belt driven machinery, and some
more modern machines. The picture shows the boiler for 3822 awaiting
its frames to be rolled underneath, see Fitting
the Boiler to 3822 for more details.
